Specially-abled students from schools run by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi participated in the annual Purple Fest held at Amrit Udyan within the premises of Rashtrapati Bhavan. It marks the first time that students from MCD schools took part in the event.

According to officials, the participation was part of the civic body’s efforts to promote inclusive education and ensure the holistic development of students studying in its schools. The festival brought together persons with disabilities and students from across the country, providing them a platform to showcase their talents.

At the event, two students from MCD schools presented a dance performance, while nine students took part in a fancy dress competition. A total of 11 students from MCD schools participated in the programme.

During the visit, the students also toured Amrit Udyan, which is known for its landscaped gardens and seasonal flower displays inside the Rashtrapati Bhavan complex.

International para-athlete Vikas Dagar, who is also a principal at an MCD school, attended the event along with officials from the MCD Education Department and teachers accompanying the students.

Officials said the Purple Fest is organised annually at Amrit Udyan and serves as a platform for persons with disabilities from across the country to present cultural performances and participate in various activities.
