A minor fire broke out at Pacific Mall in Jasola on Saturday. However, swift action by the Delhi Police and Delhi Fire Services prevented any major damage or casualties, officials said.
A PCR call was received at the Sarita Vihar police station reporting a fire within the mall premises around 12:20 pm. Police personnel and fire tenders reached the spot within minutes and brought the situation under control.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the fire broke out in an office space on the sixth floor, which was undergoing renovation. According to the police, sparks from welding work on office chairs came in contact with nearby thermocol sheets, causing smoke and flames to spread briefly.
Officials said the fire was completely doused within minutes and did not result in any injuries. The damage was described as negligible and limited to renovation materials.
The police said the incident highlights the need for strict adherence to fire safety norms during interior construction and renovation work in commercial establishments.
