The bodies of Shashi Talwar (60) and her differently-abled daughter Nidhi (40) were found at their house in outer Delhi's Mianwali Nagar this morning, police said.
The incident came to light after their maid returned to work. She rang the doorbell several times, but when there was no response, she entered the house from the other door. She found the duo lying in a pool of blood and informed the police at around 10 am.
Shashi's throat was slit while Nidhi was attacked with a blunt object, they said.
The police said they do not suspect any robbery or theft angle to the twin killings since the jewellery was found intact.
Shashi's husband had died of a heart attack two years ago.
It is suspected that someone known to the family executed the killings since there were tea-cups lying in the drawing room, police added.
Police have rounded up a number of people. Some relatives of the deceased were also examined as the police suspected that property could be a cause of the murders.
The police said that generally during the night, bith front and back gates are bolted from inside. But, when the maid reached, the back gate was ajar.
