NCR pollution at dangerous levels; Gurjar calls for saving Aravallis
Cautions life may become unbearable if hills are destroyed
Union Minister of State for Cooperation Krishan Pal Gurjar on Sunday stressed the need to protect the Aravalli range, warning that further degradation would worsen pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR) and pose serious risks to public health.
“The pollution in the NCR has already reached alarming levels, posing serious risks to public health. If the Aravallis are destroyed, pollution levels will increase manifold. Therefore, protecting the Aravallis is essential in the public interest,” Gurjar said.
The minister made the remarks while responding to questions on the ongoing Aravallis controversy during an interaction with the media at the office of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) president Aryan Mann in Bahadurgarh town.
Gurjar cautioned that failure to preserve the Aravallis could make life increasingly difficult for residents of the region, underlining the mountain range’s role in maintaining ecological balance, air quality and the overall cleanliness and beauty of the NCR.
Replying to a query on the upcoming municipal corporation elections in three districts, the Union Minister said the BJP was fully prepared for the polls in Haryana. He said the party would contest the municipal corporation elections on the BJP symbol, while the decision on whether to contest municipal council elections on the party symbol or not had been left to the respective district units.
Commenting on the international situation, Gurjar expressed concern over growing unrest in several countries, calling it a worrying trend for the world.
“War is not good for the world, as every country has to pay the price for it, whether through inflation or economic consequences. War is not a solution to any issue, as it brings numerous adverse effects. Every problem can only be resolved through dialogue,” he asserted.
Responding to another question on the performance of the BJP-led government at the Centre, Gurjar said the government had been working for all sections of society and had implemented several welfare schemes effectively for the overall development and welfare of the people.
Replying to a query on student politics, the Union Minister said the victory of Aryan Mann as DUSU president had not only enhanced the pride of Haryana’s youth but had also boosted the morale of young people in Delhi, given the importance of DUSU elections.
