Ahead of the India AI Impact Summit-2026 on February 16, the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has stepped up preparations to showcase the capital as a clean, smart and secure city.
Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Singh Chahal conducted an on-ground review of the arrangements, emphasising that the NDMC was working in alignment with the summit’s theme ‘Sarvajan Hitaya, Sarvajan Sukhaya’ (welfare for all, happiness for all).
Chahal began his inspection at the NDMC Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC), which he described as the “third eye of the city”. The ICCC integrates 333 CCTV cameras of the NDMC, 183 of Delhi Police and 214 of the PWD for round-the-clock surveillance.
All sanitation and service vehicles are being monitored via GPS, including 12 mechanical road sweepers, 10 jetting machines, eight anti-smog guns, and 14 water tankers. 959 RFID-enabled bins and multi-trip garbage collection are ensuring that 99 identified hot spots in markets, hotels and high-footfall areas remain clean.
Environmental monitoring has been strengthened with 20 air quality sensors tracking multiple parameters, while citizen grievances are being addressed in real time through the NDMC 311 App. The ICCC is staffed round-the-clock by officials from all departments to ensure swift action.
On-ground inspections also covered Palika Kendra, Janpath, Windsor Roundabout, Ashoka Road, Akbar Road, and other key areas, alongside major beautification efforts, including 15,000 potted plants, 4,000 hanging baskets, 15 floral boards and special illumination of prominent buildings. Roads are being upgraded with signage, road markings, footpaths and street lighting, while a Tulip Festival at Shanti Path will be part of the summit festivities.
Chahal said under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi, Artificial Intelligence had become a pillar of economic growth, innovation and employment. “The India AI Impact Summit 2026 will demonstrate India’s technological capabilities and global leadership in the AI,” he added.
