Need decisive lead to overcome EVM tampering: Kejriwal
AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal on Monday alleged that the BJP could tamper with 10 per cent of votes, therefore urged Delhi residents for a decisive lead beyond this margin to safeguard democracy.
He announced the launch of a dedicated website to track polling data, “If we want to defeat their EVM manipulation, then every single vote, every single vote of ‘jhaadu’ must be cast,”
The former Delhi Chief Minister in a video message stated, “I want to tell the people of Delhi that, according to my sources, they can manipulate up to 10 per cent of the votes through these machines. That’s why you need to vote in overwhelming numbers.” He claimed that people have complained about their votes being manipulated.
“If we manage a 15 per cent lead, we will win by five percent. Give us a lead over ten per cent. Vote in such massive numbers, vote so decisively, that we overpower their machines. This is the only way to defeat their machine manipulation—by voting in huge numbers.” he added.
Announcing the launch of a website, Kejriwal said that it would upload six crucial pieces of information about every polling booth onto this website to prevent tampering with the machines. The information that it will feature include -- name or number of the polling booth, name of the presiding officer at that polling booth, control unit’s ID, total number of votes cast at that booth by the end of the day, battery percentage of the machine at the end of polling and name of the party polling agent.
“These six details will be uploaded to our website that very night. If they try to manipulate results on counting day, we will have the data to cross-check. If there is any discrepancy between what we recorded and what they declare, we will know that fraud has taken place.” Kejriwal continued.
