New Delhi: A 50-year-old man ended his life by jumping in front of a train at the Yamuna Bank Metro station here on Thursday, disrupting services briefly on the Blue Line, officials said. According to the suicide note recovered from the man's possession, he took the extreme step due to financial hardship and health issues, the police said. Woman alleges rape by lawyer
New Delhi: A 21-year-old woman has alleged that she was raped by a lawyer inside his chamber at Tis Hazari Court in North Delhi, the police said on Thursday. The woman in her complaint said the accused called her on the pretext of giving her a job on July 27 but forced himself on her, they said. The woman said the lawyer threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone about the assault. He gave her Rs 1,500 and asked her to leave, an officer said, citing the woman’s complaint. The woman after reaching her home informed her aunt about the incident, who then approached the police. PTI
Fire at vehicle impounding yard
New Delhi: At least 150 vehicles were gutted in a fire at the police’s Wazirabad impound yard on Thursday, the second such incident within a week at the facility in North East Delhi. No one was injured in the incident, a Delhi Fire Services (DFS) official said. He said around 5.15 am, the DFS received a call about a fire in a bush near the yard. Half an hour later, it was reported that a blaze has engulfed the impounded vehicles, the official said. pti
