Panic gripped Ashok Vihar Phase-3 early morning on Tuesday as two bike-borne miscreants fired indiscriminately at a newly built three-storey house.

No one stepped out of their houses during the firing, which lasted for about five minutes. Police reached the spot after receiving information. However, the miscreants had fled by then.

The police team found broken glass and empty bullet shells at the house after the incident. An FIR has been registered at the Palam Vihar police station.

The firing was allegedly done to create panic in the area by the henchmen of gangster Kaushal Chaudhary. A screenshot of a social media post, claimed to be posted by Chaudhary’s gang, has since made rounds across social media platforms. In the post, the gang claims responsibility for the incident. A Gurugram police spokesperson said the police were investigating the post.

A screenshot of post read: “Ram Ram to all my brothers. Today at 5.30 am, 50 bullets were fired at Jaskaran Singh’s house near Palam Vihar Extension and Euro Kids School by Sauran Gadoli and Pawan Shokeen from Kaushal Chaudhary Group. Whoever is helping our enemies should make their own preparations. Jai Baba.” According to the police, the newly built three-storey house is said to be owned by a building material supplier.

No one was residing at the house at the time of the firing, according to the cops.

The incident took place at around 5.30 am. A senior investigating officer said the motive behind this firing could be to scare the businessman to extort money. “We are investigating the matter and trying to identify the suspects with the help of CCTV footage. The suspects will be arrested soon,” the spokesperson said.
