Amid concerns over LPG availability in the Capital, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday assured residents that there was no shortage of domestic or commercial LPG and said supply was stable, adequate and within control.
She urged citizens not to panic or fall for rumours, emphasising that the situation was being closely monitored and efficiently managed by the government.
According to official data shared by the CM, on April 3, Delhi recorded 1,11,504 LPG cylinder bookings, while oil marketing companies delivered 1,26,379 cylinders, significantly exceeding the demand. “This reflects a smooth and well functioning supply chain, with pending orders being cleared swiftly,” added Gupta. As per the data, the average delivery time for domestic LPG cylinders has also improved to 4.37 days and timely delivery is being ensured.
To address concerns over hoarding and black marketing, the government has set up a dedicated control room to handle complaints and monitor the situation. “Based on verified inputs, coordinated action is being taken by the Delhi Police in all cases flagged to them across the city,” explained the CM.
Police teams have carried out 22 raids at different locations across the city. In one such operation in north Rohini, an FIR was registered and six illegally stored LPG cylinders were seized. Officials said the crackdown on those involved in hoarding and black marketing would continue.
CM Gupta appealed to residents to avoid crowding outside LPG agencies or distribution centres, stressing that cylinders would be delivered directly to homes within the stipulated time. She called on citizens to cooperate with authorities and help maintain order to support the government’s efforts.
