Now, it’s over to the people
With Delhi observing ‘silence period’ ahead of Wednesday’s Assembly elections, the BJP, AAP and Congress candidates continued their efforts to connect with voters within the campaign restrictions and were seen seeking divine blessings, sharing personal moments and amplifying key local issues.
On the eve of the polling, AAP chief and New Delhi candidate Arvind Kejriwal visited the iconic Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place with his family to seek Lord Hanuman’s blessings. Sharing his visit on social media platform ‘X’, Kejriwal wrote, “Today is Tuesday, the auspicious day of Hanuman Ji’s worship. I visited the ancient Hanuman temple at Connaught Place and prayed to Lord Hanuman for destruction of wickedness, injustice, and hooliganism in Delhi, and for triumph of truth. May Lord Hanuman’s blessings always remain upon all the residents of Delhi!”
While Kejriwal sought spiritual blessings, Delhi CM Atishi, who is contesting from Kalkaji, accused her BJP rival Ramesh Bidhuri of violating the Model Code of Conduct. Atishi held a press conference alongside fellow AAP candidates Durgesh Pathak from Rajinder Nagar and Manish Sisodia from Jangpura, escalating the verbal spat between the parties.
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva also sought blessings of Lord Jagannath at Jagannath Temple in Hauz Khas to seek victory of all 70 candidates.
BJP candidates were active on social media, amplifying local concerns. Manjinder Singh Sirsa, BJP’s Rajouri Garden candidate, shared images of garbage-filled roads in Delhi. Dushyant Kumar Gautam, BJP’s Karol Bagh candidate, shared a clip about the city’s ongoing water crisis.
BJP candidate for New Delhi Parvesh Verma shared a video of himself listening to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address in Parliament.
