Old Kondli resident stabbed at Ashok Nagar area, suffers injuries
Cops register case, scan CCTV footage to get leads
A 32-year-old man suffered serious injuries after being stabbed by an unidentified assailant in East Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar area on Saturday, the police said.
The incident took place near Kondli Pul. The victim was rushed to a hospital with critical injuries.
The police said the incident came to light after they received information from Lal Bahadur Shastri (LBS) Hospital about a person admitted with stab wounds. The victim was identified as Jay Prakash, a resident of Old Kondli in Delhi.
After getting information, the police reached the hospital, where doctors informed them that the victim had been referred to the AIIMS Trauma Centre owing to his critical condition.
According to a senior police officer, during a brief preliminary interaction, Prakash stated that he was attacked by an unidentified person near Kondli Pul. However, doctors declared him unfit to give a detailed statement owing to the severity of his injuries.
“As per medical opinion, the injuries sustained by the victim are serious in nature,” the officer said.
Based on the medico-legal case (MLC) report and the facts available so far, the police have registered a case under Section 109(1) (attempt to murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the New Ashok Nagar police station. The accused is yet to be identified.
The police said CCTV footage from areas
around Kondli Pul and adjoining routes was being scanned to identify any suspicious movement and possible leads.
