Only 1 out of 5 Delhiites owns a four-wheeler: Report
68% households possess a two-wheeler or a bicycle
Most Delhiites do not own a personal four-wheeler. Only one of every five households owns a car or a jeep, while a large chunk, nearly 68 per cent, owns either a two-wheeler or a bicycle, according to the latest Delhi statics report.
According to the report, the number of registered cars and jeeps in 2024-25 stood at 20,88,805 against 20,83,905 personal four-wheelers in 2023-24, witnessing a marginal rise of 4,900.
The report also highlighted that a large chunk of the population commutes through public transport - buses and Metro.
It also mentions that on an average, 3,499 buses of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) and 2,972 buses under the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) ply daily on city roads ferrying around 46 lakh passengers.
Similarly, the Delhi Metro also has an average ridership of nearly 63 lakh passengers daily, including on the Airport Express Line, the report mentioned.
The report also highlights that 38 per cent of the households own a motorcycle or a scooter and 30 per cent owns a bicycle.
It also highlights that 33 per cent of the households still own a radio, 88 per cent have a television and 90 per cent have access to wireless telephones.
Additionally, only 17.6 per cent of the households own a laptop with an Internet connection and 5.1 per cent still have landline phones.
There are 511 post offices and 826 letter boxes in the national capital, it mentioned. Meanwhile, only 77.7 per cent of the households avail of banking services, the report highlighted.
