Packed day at Delhi Khel Mahakumbh, matches held across multiple sports

The volleyball grand finale was held at SKV A Block School in Janakpuri in the presence of Delhi’s Education and Sports Minister Ashish Sood, who attended as the chief guest and encouraged the finalists. Additional Director Nitin Jindal was also present on the occasion.
In the men’s open category final, LPN Club defeated Masters Academy to clinch the title in a closely contested match. Kaptan Club secured the third position after defeating Finance Club.
In the girls’ open category final, Jaunti Club defeated Tikri Kalan to take the top spot, while Tikri Kalan finished second. The match for third place between Delhi Administration and Yuva Academy was underway at the time of reporting.
Football matches also witnessed intense competition. In the girls’ school category semifinal played at Kohat Enclave Sports Complex, the JDMC team defeated Modern School, Vasant Vihar by 3–0 to enter the final. Another semifinal between JMC and Bharti Public School was held at Thyagaraj Stadium.
In the girls’ open category football final held at Lok Vihar Sports Complex, HOPS FA defeated HOPS FC 4–1 to win the title.
Basketball matches took place at Lok Vihar Sports Complex in Pitampura. In the men’s college category, the team from Shri Ram College of Commerce defeated St. Stephen’s College, while Kirori Mal College registered a win against Jamia Millia Islamia.
In the women’s college category final, Lady Shri Ram College for Women defeated Shri Ram College of Commerce to win the title.
Wrestling bouts were also held at Chhatrasal Stadium across various weight categories. In the 50 kg and 53 kg categories, Aman secured first place, while Saurabh finished third. Venkatesh performed strongly in the 57 kg category, and Munendra from Thyagaraj won silver in the 61 kg category.
Speaking on the occasion, Sood said the Delhi Khel Mahakumbh is aimed at strengthening the sports ecosystem in the capital and providing young athletes with opportunities to compete and improve their skills.
He added that over the past month more than 23,000 players have participated in various events of the Mahakumbh.
The initiative, he said, aims not only to organise competitions but also to prepare athletes for major platforms such as the National Games, Asian Games, Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.
