People will sweep AAP out with ‘broom’: Shah

With just four days left for the Assembly elections, the BJP on Saturday stepped up its campaign, with senior party leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah, and others holding about 50 rallies across the city.

Amit Shah, who held three rallies, accused the AAP of engaging in corruption and sheltering illegal immigrants. He said there was a big wave against the party in Delhi as it is running a “3G” government of ‘ghotale’, ‘ghuspaithiyon ko panaah’ and ‘ghaple’.

“The first G stands for ‘ghotale wali sarkar’ (a government that commits scams), the second G stands for ‘ghuspaithiyon ko panaah dene wali sarkar’ (a government that shelters intruders) and the third G stands for ‘ghaple karne wali sarakar’ (a government that indulges in corruption),” Shah said.

He said people of Delhi would sweep out the AAP with a jhadoo (broom, which is also the AAP’s poll symbol).

“The time has come to free Delhi from this “AAP-da” (disaster), liquor mafia, scams and root out ‘kattar beimaans’ (outright dishonest), Shah said, appealing to people to vote for the BJP for the development of Delhi.

The Home Minister slammed the AAP over pollution in the Yamuna. “Kejriwal had said he will clean the Yamuna. Chhath Puja will be celebrated in a grand manner and he will take a dip in the river. Till date, he has not taken a dip in the Yamuna. Neither Chhath Puja ghats have been improved nor the Yamuna has been cleaned,” Shah said.

He also attacked Kejriwal for his allegations against the Haryana government of deliberately poisoning the Yamuna.

“He (Kejriwal) is just making excuses that the Haryana government has mixed poison in the Yamuna water. Kejriwal, the Haryana Government did not add poison, you have made the Yamuna water poisonous by spreading pollution,” Shah said.

Meanwhile, since Arvind Kejriwal made accusations against the Haryana Government, Chief Minister Nayab Saini has gained popularity in the Assembly elections with BJP leaders requesting him to campaign for them in Delhi. Accepting their request, Saini on Saturday reached the Capital and conducted back-to-back rallies in 8 Assembly constituencies.

CM Saini began his campaign on Saturday by first watching the live broadcast of the General Budget. He then organised a nukkad sabha in Chandni Chowk.

While addressing gatherings in several parts of the city, Saini accused Kejriwal of attempting to cover up his own failures and mismanagement by spreading false propaganda, including claims of poisoning the Yamuna water, in an effort to create tension between Haryana and Delhi.
