Police chief honours officers injured in Surajkund fair tragedy

Faridabad’s Police Commissioner Satendra Kumar Gupta honored the police officers who were injured while rescuing people after a swing collapsed during the Surajkund Fair. He also honored three police officer who were injured in a road accident while transporting cyber fraudsters from Bhopal after arresting them.

The Faridabad police spokesperson Yashpal Yadav said that on February 7, the “Tsunami” swing at the Surajkund Fair collapsed. When one side of the swing broke, there was widespread outcry. Police officers joined in rescue operations, but in the meantime, the other side of the swing also broke, and Inspector Jagdish Prasad was martyred while trying to save the public.

During the rescue operation at the fair, lady Assistant Sub-Inspector Neelam suffered a fracture above her eye and a head injury. Three ribs were broken of a Special Police Officer Rajesh Kumar and a finger of female constable Sharmila was also broken. The police commissioner honored all three police officers with Rs 5,000 each and a commendation letter.

Meanwhile, a team from Cyber Police Station Central was bringing an accused arrested in a share market fraud case from Bhopal to Faridabad on February 13. On the night of February 14, when the team reached the Mumbai Expressway, the vehicle met with an accident, injuring Assistant Sub-Inspector Jitendra, Head Constable Sunil and Constable Laxman.

Police Commissioner Satendra Kumar Gupta has also honored the three policemen with a commendation letter and a reward of Rs 2000 each.
