Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, expressed concerns over the alleged neglect of 12 colleges under Delhi University during the recent session of the Delhi Assembly on Friday. These colleges receive full funding from the Delhi Government. Despite a High Court directive urging the Arvind Kejriwal administration to release adequate funds, Bidhuri claims that the colleges are facing financial difficulties, impacting salaries and staffing.
During the session, under the special mention in Rule 280, Bidhuri emphasised, “The situation in these colleges is dire due to the government’s failure to release funds as directed by the court. Teachers and staff are facing delays in salary payments, and vacancies remain unfilled, causing further strain.”
Highlighting the court’s intervention, Bidhuri lamented, “Even the High Court’s interim order to expedite grants for these colleges has been disregarded by the Delhi Government.” He stressed that the government’s inaction is not only affecting the functioning of these institutions but also violating the court’s directives.
