Rani Jhansi Road Project: Delhi BJP accuses AAP MP of promoting communal agenda
Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh of promoting a communal agenda and disrupting Delhi’s harmony over the Rani Jhansi Road project. During a press conference held on Thursday, Sachdeva claimed that Singh’s allegations regarding the relocation of Rani Lakshmibai’s statue were false and politically motivated.
“Sanjay Singh, in a misleading press conference yesterday, falsely accused the BJP of removing the grand statue of Rani Lakshmibai at Deshbandhu Gupta Road. The truth is, the proposal for the statue’s relocation came from the Public Works Department and the Delhi Municipal Corporation, under the AAP-led Delhi government,” said Sachdeva.
According to Sachdeva, the project to enhance the flyover from Tis Hazari to Filmistan, initiated in 2016-17 by the AAP government, required the widening of Rani Jhansi Road and making it signal-free. “The relocation of Rani Lakshmibai’s statue at Deshbandhu Gupta Chowk was proposed as part of the plan by the Public Works Department and later approved,” he added.
