Realtor’s decomposed body found hanging at home
No suspicion raised so far; statements of kin, neighbours recorded
A partially decomposed body of a 49-year-old man was found hanging at his residence in Vasant Kunj area of Southwest Delhi, the police said on Tuesday.
Officials said they received information regarding the incident at the Vasant Kunj South police station around 6:19 pm from E-2, Vasant Kunj.
After getting information, the emergency officer, along with beat staff, reached the spot and found the house locked from the inside. The police took help from the Delhi Fire Service to open the door.
Inside, the police found a partially decomposed body a man hanging from a ceiling fan with the help of a plastic rope.
The Crime Team and the Scene of Crime (SOC) unit inspected the spot. The body was sent to Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem examination, an official said.
The deceased was identified by family members. Statements of family members and neighbours were recorded, the official elaborated. Prima facie, no suspicion has been raised so far regarding the death, the police said.
The deceased was a property dealer and was living alone in the house away from his family, the police said.
The police said inquest proceedings under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) are underway.
