Kejriwal targeted in attempted liquid attack during ‘padyatra’ in Delhi
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener Arvind Kejriwal was targeted in an attempted liquid attack during his ‘padyatra’ in Delhi’s Greater Kailash area on Saturday. A man from the crowd threw a liquid at Kejriwal, who was walking with Greater Kailash MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj in a narrow lane. The security staff quickly overpowered the attacker and handed him over to the police.
The police are currently trying to ascertain the nature of the liquid thrown at Kejriwal. The attacker’s identity is also yet to be confirmed.
AAP has condemned the attack, criticising the BJP-led central government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the national capital. “If a former CM is not safe in Delhi, then where will the common man go?” the party asked in a statement.
Bharadwaj alleged that the attacker is directly linked to BJP and posted a Facebook profile photo of the alleged accused. “BJP is frustrated as it has failed to maintain law and order in Delhi. BJP got Arvind Kejriwal attacked for raising questions on law and order. Amit Shah’s failure is known to all,” the party statement read.
