Nearly two dozen shots were fired at the car of a businessman in Sector 24 area of Northwest Delhi’s Rohini, the police said on Friday.
According to the police, a PCR call was received at Begumpur police station around 5.23 pm reporting that three unidentified youths arrived on a motorcycle, fired shots and fled the scene. No injuries were reported in the incident. Empty cartridges were found lying on the road.
Police teams rushed to the spot in Sector 24, Rohini, where they found a blue colour car bearing bullet marks on its front windshield. The complainant, a property dealer, was present at the scene. He told the police that between December 26 and December 29, he received multiple WhatsApp calls and voice messages from an unknown international number.
The caller allegedly claimed to be a “big gangster” and demanded a huge sum of money as extortion, along with issuing threats. The complainant said he did not inform the police about these threats earlier, an official said.
Based on the complaint, a case has been registered at the Begumpur police station under relevant sections pertaining to extortion and firing, the cop added.
