Sixth suspect arrested in Nuh terror funding, ISI spying probe

Police say latest arrest in Amritsar linked to alleged hawala transfers

The special investigation team (SIT) of Nuh police has arrested a sixth accused from Amritsar in connection with a case involving alleged terror funding and spying for Pakistan’s ISI. The police said said the arrest was made on the basis of information provided by advocate Rizwan, who remains in police remand.

According to police, the latest accused has been identified as Sumit, a resident of Amritsar. He is alleged to have been involved in transferring hawala funds. Sumit has been placed in five days’ police remand after being produced before a Nuh court. The police said they seized mobile phones and laptops from him, which allegedly contained suspicious chats and transaction records.

A total of six arrests have been made so far. The other accused — Rizwan, Sandeep, Amandeep and Jaskaran — were earlier sent to judicial custody after completion of their police remand. Main suspect advocate Rizwan continues to be in police remand as the investigation proceeds.
