"At 1.19 pm, I received a call from the SHO of the Dwarka police station Sector 11. He said they have found a bike registered in my number and a body," the hapless mother recounted. After rushing to the spot that day, Inna kept screaming for help for 10 minutes before an ambulance picked up her son. He was declared dead at the Indira Gandhi hospital.

A video grab of the accident shows a teen driving the SUV which missed a bus and then hit Sahil's bike, resulting in his death on the spot.

The police said the SUV driver, a 17-year-old boy, was found without a driving licence and apprehended.

He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board before being granted interim bail on February 10, as he is a Class X student and had to appear for board exams that commenced today.

The FIR says the accident was reported at 11.57 am near Lal Bahadur Shastri College Dwarka through a PCR call.

A crime and FSL team inspected the spot and collected exhibits. The FIR mentions the age of the accused as 19, but the same was verified by documents and subsequently rectified, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said today.

While the cops do their job, Inna Maakan, who raised Sahil alone, alleged that the video clip had been edited at the end to erase the actual moment of the fatal collision.

“My son was going to the office that day. The Scorpio driver, along with his sister, was out to make fun reels. The speed at which the SUV was being driven is clearly visible. This is not an accident; it is a crime, a murder," she said.

Inna said the Scorpio driver did not even apply the brakes after hitting her son. "Their reckless behaviour shows a mentality where money allows them to break rules. My child’s life is gone because of a fun reel,” the traumatised mother added, breaking into tears.

Remembering the day of the crash when she got a call, Inna said the caller asked her to describe her son's built.

"They said the body they found is of a slim and fair boy. I ran to my car and reached Lal Bahadur Shastri College in Dwarka. It was my son lying on the road. His sports bike was split into three parts, jacket torn into pieces," she said unable to fathom the tragedy that had hit her.

Inna said Sahil was going to build a life abroad and was highly disciplined. "I will not step back, I will seek justice for my son" she said.

Sahil's mother claimed she had heard that the teen's father was a transporter and the said SUV had multiple traffic violations against it. "There are 13 challans in Delhi and a few in UP," she alleged.

What cops say

According to the police, a case was registered at the Dwarka South police station under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence), and 125(a) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the BNS on February 3.

The SUV driver, a 17-year-old boy, was found without a driving licence and was apprehended. He was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board before being granted interim bail on February 10, as he is a Class X student appearing for exams.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) Ankit Singh said further action in the case had been initiated under relevant Sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the cops also planned to name the teenager's father in the chargesheet. "We are also checking if the boy or his sister was making reels during the accident," the DPC said.
