Student nabbed with illegal pistol, cartridges inside Rohini school

A student was found carrying an illegal firearm and live ammunition on the premises of a private school in Rohini district, the police said on Tuesday.

The police received a PCR call at the Aman Vihar police station on Monday regarding a student allegedly carrying a weapon inside the school. Given the sensitivity of the situation and the safety of students, the police immediately reached the spot.

The police recovered a country-made pistol and 10 live cartridges from an 18-year-old student at the school. The police registered a case under Section 25 of the Arms Act at the Aman Vihar police station and apprehended the accused. The police said the recovery was made after the school’s Estate Officer noticed the student attempting to conceal an object in a toilet on the second floor.

When spotted, the student left the toilet and was later apprehended near the stage area. During a search, the firearm and ammunition were recovered from him. He was produced before the school principal, who informed the police, an official said.

During questioning, the accused disclosed that he was carrying the weapon due to personal enmity with another student, the cop added.

The accused was produced before the learned JMFC, Rohini Courts, which sent him to two-day police custody. Further investigation is underway, the official mentioned.
