From a family of reformists and educationists

Sandhu, 63, hails from an illustrious family of reformists and educationists. Born in Amritsar in 1963, he is the grandson of Teja Singh Samundri, a prominent figure in the early 20th-century Gurdwara Reform Movement that transformed the management of Sikh religious institutions.

In recognition of his contributions, the main hall of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee in Amritsar is named Teja Singh Samundri Hall.

Outgoing L-G Saxena to assume charge in Ladakh
