On the occasion, Delhi’s Minister for Education and Sports, Ashish Sood, said, “The Delhi Government will continue to organise such grand sporting events from time to time to encourage youth to develop an interest in sports.”

He also stated, “Previous governments had shown a lack of interest and negligence towards sports in Delhi and funds meant for sports were used for advertisements. However, the Delhi Government is now working at multiple levels to enable sports and athletes to showcase their talent on international platforms.”
