To arrange money for gifting a luxurious jeep to his sister on her wedding, a 28-year-old man was arrested with 23 kg of marijuana in Baprola Village, outer Delhi, a police official said today.
The accused, Mohammad Vakil, was arrested on July 14, on the basis of a tip-off, the official said.
A trap was laid near Dilip Bhawan in Baprola Village to nab him.
After Vakil was seen driving a black Eeco van, the police stopped the vehicle using barricades, but he tried to escape from the spot.
During checking of the vehicle, a sack full of marijuana was found on the front seat of the vehicle, the official added.
The accused said he was indulging in drug peddling for the past many years and used to take marijuana from Roshan, a resident of Bihar, and sell it in retail to various clients.
