To curb waterlogging and overflowing of sewage, the Municipal Corporation Gurugram (MCG) has constituted a monsoon management cell.
From now onwards, this cell would plan, coordinate, monitor and review all monsoon-related preparedness in Gurugram.
Pradeep Dahiya, Commissioner of the MCG, said the monsoon management cell would get operative with immediate effect.
Consultant Surbhi Sahu, former participant of Haryana’s Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associates (CMGGA), has been attached to the engineering wing of the MCG.
“Sahu shall undertake assignments, including preparation of a comprehensive Monsoon Preparedness Plan for the Municipal Corporation Gurugram. Compilation and verification of records of civil works, including desilting, drain cleaning and other monsoon-oriented civil activities. She will also assess documentation of the requirement and deployment of machinery for the monsoon. Analysis of previous years’ monsoon data to identify gaps, bottlenecks and best practices and the Monsoon Preparedness Plan (Draft 1) will be submitted by January 15, both in brief and in a detailed manner,” read the orders.
Sahu has been further directed to undertake documentation, preparation of minutes of meetings (MoMs), detailed analytical reports and related coordination work for the sewerage management cell (SMC).
“The work shall be carried out under the supervision of the Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, and shall include data compilation, process documentation, operational review and analytical support. The official concerned shall report to the Chief Engineer, Municipal Corporation Gurugram, for supervision, coordination, and review of the assigned work,” stated the orders.
“We have already collected the data and our SMC is already working on better arrangements. Now, we have constituted a monsoon management cell to ensure that there is no waterlogging during monsoon,” Dahiya said.
