New Delhi, February 18

In order to pay its tribute to CRPF personnel killed in Pulwama attack and to depict solidarity with their families and the nation, traders closed their shops for a few hours in the morning today.

The traders closed their shops responding to the band call given by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT).

The traders from all parts of Delhi gathered at Ghantaghar, Chandni Chowk, and held a 'shradhanjali sabha' and paid tribute to the martyrs. The angry traders also burnt the effigy of Pakistani terrorism.

The traders also demanded the government to sever all trade relations with Pakistan.

CAIT national secretary general Praveen Khandelwal while leading the Bharat Trade Bandh said in the wake of China constantly supporting Pakistan, the trading community is greatly upset and resenting and from today onwards the traders will boycott Chinese products.

The CAIT has launched a nationwide campaign to motivate traders and people at large not to sell or buy products which are made in China.

He said though the government had imposed 200 per cent custom duty on goods importing from Pakistan, yet in the current scenario the government should impose absolute ban on trade with Pakistan. Goods worth about Rs 3,500 crore are being imported from Pakistan annually.

The CAIT has also demanded the government to levy, at least, 300 per cent custom duty on goods being imported from China so that import is discouraged with China.
