Triple-vehicle collision kills scooty rider

A 30-year-old scooty rider lost his life in a tragic road accident involving a car and a bus near Uttam Nagar West Metro Station in west Delhi, police said on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Daksh (30), a resident of Uttam Nagar.

According to police, a PCR call was received reporting a fatal accident near the metro station, under the jurisdiction of Uttam Nagar police station.

Based on the information, a team rushed to the spot and found three vehicles – a car, a bus, and a scooty – in accidental condition, an official said.

Initial investigation revealed that a car had been stopped on the left side of the road after a passenger requested the driver to halt, as he was feeling unwell and needed to use a washroom.

While the vehicle was stationary, the passenger opened the rear door on the right side of the car. At the same moment, the scooty rider reportedly rammed into the open door, the cop added.

The impact caused the scooty rider to lose balance and fall onto the road, where he was subsequently run over by a bus approaching from behind, police said.

The injured was rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have registered a case under Sections 281 and 106 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and fix responsibility in the matter.

Officials said statements of witnesses are being recorded and CCTV footage from the area is being examined to establish the exact circumstances leading to the fatal accident.
