In the chemical factory fire incident in Faridabad’s Mujesar area that left 37 people injured, two people, including the son of the factory owner succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment on Thursday.
According to the police, the deceased were identified as Abhishek Monga (37), a resident of sector 23, and Pradeep Kumar (21), a resident of Sanjay Colony, Faridabad. Monga was the son of the factory owner and Pradeep was a factory worker. Both were admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital and had suffered approximately 50 percent burns. They died on Thursday night. Vijay Monga, owner of the factory, was also injured in Monday’s fire and he is undergoing treatment at a Delhi Trauma Center.
The police said that when the fire broke out, Abhishek Monga went inside the factory to save his father, Vijay Monga. During the incident, a drum filled with chemicals exploded, leaving him severely burned.
In this case, the police have filed a case against the owners and managers of Kalkaji Lubricants and Shiv Steel factories. On the orders of the District Deputy Commissioner, a seven-member team led by SDM Badkhal has been formed to investigate the matter.
A senior police officer said that the injured were treated at various hospitals. Two fire brigade employees Ranveer and Bhavichand, are in critical condition. They suffered over 50 percent burns and are undergoing treatment at Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.
It may be noted that a total of 37 people, including three policemen and two firefighters were burned in a fire at the Kalkaji Lubricants and Shiv Steel Company workshops in Mujesar, Sector 24, on Monday evening. Those who suffered minor burns have been treated and discharged after their condition improves. Other injured are being treated in hospitals.
