Two killed as speeding jeep rams into truck on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway

Two people were killed after a speeding pickup jeep rammed into the rear of a truck near pillar number 51 on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway near Jhimrawat village in Nuh district in the wee hours on Saturday. The truck driver fled, leaving his vehicle at the spot.

Both vehicles were badly damaged, and the police took them into custody. The bodies were sent to Al-Afia Hospital, Mandikhera, for postmortem. An FIR was registered against the truck driver at the Pingwan police station.

According to the police, the accident occurred around 4:30 am on Saturday when a speeding pickup rammed into the rear of a truck ahead. In the collision, two persons travelling in the pickup jeep were killed on the spot.

The deceased were identified as Soraj Keer (38) and Hemraj Mehra, residents of Mohalla Chawani Tonk, Tonk district in Rajasthan. After receiving information, a police team reached the spot and sent the bodies to Al-Afia Hospital, Mandikhera. With the help of a crane the road was also cleared by removing the damaged vehicles. “The families of the deceased have been informed and postmortem of the bodies is being conducted. An FIR has been registered and the accused truck driver will be arrested soon,” said sub-inspector Nikhil Kumar, SHO of the Pingwan police station.
