As part of the ongoing Operation Trackdown, the Special Task Force (STF) Gurugram unit has arrested two active members of the Rohit Godara gang. The arrested individuals were identified as Naresh Kumar and Sanjay alias Sanjeev, both residents of Saidpur village in Narnaul district. The duo had been on the run for the past 11 months and each carried a cash reward of Rs 5,000 for their arrest.
According to the police, on December 5, 2024, Kumar and Sanjeev launched a murderous attack on a rival gang member, Amit, son of Satyapal, a resident of Surani in Mahendragarh district. The assault occurred inside the premises of the Court in Narnaul. Following the attack, the accused kept changing locations in a bid to evade capture, successfully avoiding arrest for several months.
The STF Gurugram team continuously monitored the accused through technical surveillance as well as intelligence inputs.
This concerted effort led to the apprehension of the accused on November 9. Following their arrest, the accused were handed over to the STF unit in Bahadurgarh for further legal proceedings.
Sanjay alias Sanjeev has a criminal record, with around ten cases registered against him, while Naresh Kumar faces four charges. Both individuals are involved in serious offences, including organised crime, attempted murder and the illegal possession of weapons.
Operation Trackdown, launched by Haryana Police, has achieved notable success, with a total of 209 hardcore criminals and 1,173 other accused arrested statewide to date. On November 10, alone, the police apprehended 48 hardcore criminals and 179 other accused.
