Two nabbed for cashier’s murder
A 46-year-old cashier of a private company was allegedly murdered by a rider working for the same company. The accused killed Rakesh as he couldn’t return his money, amounting to Rs 30,000.
Rakesh was a resident of Mahavir Enclave, Palam, in Delhi. The victim’s body was recovered from a vacant plot in Binola village on January 23. An FIR was registered against the accused on the complaint of sarpanch of Binola village at Bilaspur police station.
After identifying the body on Friday, the accused were arrested by the team of Manesar crime unit on the same day. The car used in the crime has also been recovered from their possession.
The arrested accused have been identified as Avneesh Kumar, a resident of Sandupur village in Kanpur Dehat, and Bobby Kumar, a resident of Nangla Bihara village in Kasganj district in Uttar Pradesh.
During interrogation, it was revealed that Avneesh worked as a rider in Good Food Store Company in Sector 53, Gurugram, and Rakesh used to work there as a cashier. Avneesh had borrowed Rs 30,000 from the victim on Diwali in 2024, which he was supposed to return in a month, but did not.
“To avoid returning the money, Avneesh and his friend Bobby Kumar planned to murder Rakesh. As per the plan, on the night of January 22, they called Rakesh near Shankar Chowk. On the pretext of returning his money, they took him in Bobby’s car and went near Panchgaon Chowk. On reaching there, they strangled him with a cloth and dumped his body in an empty plot. We are questioning the accused,” said Sub Inspector Lalit Kumar, the investigating officer and in-charge of Manesar crime unit.
