Two nabbed for opening fire at showroom manager
The police have arrested two youths accused of opening fire near the camp office of Union Minister of State and local MP Krishan Pal Gurjar in Sector 28 on Monday night, injuring one person.
According to a senior police official, the accused, identified as Puneet and Surjeet, hail from Balia and Mathura districts in Uttar Pradesh, but currently reside in Sector 31. The incident stemmed from an altercation with the manager of an automobile showroom after the accused hit a motorcyclist.
When Rinku, the manager, intervened, Puneet allegedly fired at him with an unlicensed weapon. Rinku sustained an injury to his arm but was discharged after receiving medical treatment.
The police have registered a case of attempted murder and booked the accused under the Arms Act. Both were reportedly in an inebriated state at the time of the incident.
Puneet, a law graduate, has a criminal record and has previously been accused in cases of cheating and threatening in Ghaziabad and Faridabad. He was reportedly involved in the local bidi (cigarette) trade. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
