Police said the incident occurred on March 24. The hospital informed Patel Nagar police after the victim arrived, and he was declared unfit to give a statement. Laxmi initially claimed her husband was attacked by two or three unidentified assailants in a park while procuring food.

Investigators scrutinised CCTV footage and found discrepancies in her account. It emerged that Laxmi and Karan, who had a past relationship, plotted the attack after her marriage with the victim soured. On the day of the assault, Laxmi called Karan to her home, which escalated into an argument, and he stabbed the victim multiple times.

Karan was apprehended under Shadipur flyover on March 25 and Laxmi was subsequently arrested.
