Youth key architects of PM Modi’s Viksit Bharat Vision by 2047: Assembly Speaker

Speaker of the Delhi Legislative Assembly, Vijender Gupta, on Tuesday said that the youth were the primary architects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047, asserting that education remained the strongest tool for social transformation as envisioned by BR Ambedkar.Gupta was addressing the 35th annual day and prize distribution function of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar College, University of Delhi, where he attended as the chief guest.“This institution is not merely a structure of bricks and stones, but a symbol of the dreams of Dr Ambedkar, who envisioned social transformation through education,” Gupta said while congratulating students for their academic, sports and extra-curricular achievements. He presented awards and certificates to meritorious students during the ceremony.

Speaking on the roadmap for a "Viksit Bharat", the Speaker said young people were not just beneficiaries of a developed India, but active participants in shaping its future. “The energy and innovation of the youth are the driving forces behind the mission to make India a developed nation by 2047,” he said, adding that the current era belonged to talent and innovation.

Encouraging students to take responsibility beyond academics, Gupta remarked, “Your degree is not just a piece of paper, but a declaration of your responsibility towards society.” Referring to Ambedkar’s call to “Educate, Organise, and Struggle,” he said that in the present context it means using education to solve national challenges and promote inclusive growth.

Addressing students who did not receive awards, Gupta said setbacks should be viewed as opportunities for greater effort. “The real race of life begins outside college, where your character and attitude matter more than your degree. Do not be afraid to take risks; those who rise after falling are the ones who create history,” he said.

Highlighting the importance of democratic heritage, Gupta also screened a documentary titled “Veer Vithalbhai ki Gaurav Gatha”, chronicling the journey of the Delhi Legislative Assembly from 1925 to 2025. He noted that the Assembly building, popularly known as the Old Secretariat, holds historical significance as the original Secretariat and the first Parliament of India.

He announced that a coffee table book on the institution’s centenary journey would be placed in the college library for students.
