Ludhiana, March 29

Two samples sent for Covid-19 test have been rejected as they fail to fit into the criteria set for sending samples.

The department concerned is getting calls every day where people insist on getting their test done. Maximum calls are from people who have travel history even beyond the incubation period.

Helpline numbers

  • Dist Ludhiana: 0161-2444193

  • State: 104

  • Info for tracking of foreign travellers: 0161-4622276

The Civil Surgeon, Dr Rajesh Bagga, said today, he got 10 calls from people who wanted to get their tests done but were asymptomatic. “Most of the calls are from people with travel history, who had gone abroad during December or earlier. They are insisting on getting their tests done although they are asymptomatic and incubation period is already over,” said Dr Bagga.

Yesterday, two samples were rejected after they failed to fit into the criteria. Sometimes people keep pressing for getting the test done.

Dr Bagga said people needed to take precautions, stay home and maintain social distance which was very important. Even if anyone is having simple flu, they should isolate themselves as a precautionary measure.

He added Covid-19 had no medicine or vaccine and instead of getting anxious, people should pay attention towards their immunity. “One should stay hydrated, eat fresh and seasonal fruits and vegetables and increase the intake of Vitamin C,” he said.

Dr Bagga further said they had taken 17 samples of the contacts of the Jalandhar-based woman who tested positive for Covid-19 and was admitted to Christian Medical College and Hospital. All of them have come out negative.

Another breather for Ludhiana district was that a person from Shakti Nagar, who had come in contact with the Banga-based Covid-19 patient, who later died, has also tested negative.
