The Indian embassy in China on Wednesday issued an advisory urging Indians living in the country to refrain from entertaining fraud calls asking them for penalties owing to their supposed violation of immigration rules.

The embassy in Beijing has urged Indians to refrain from revealing any personal information or transfer any money to these fraudsters.

“It has been brought to the notice of the Embassy of India, Beijing, that calls are being made to Indian nationals informing them that they are liable to pay penalty owing to immigration-related violations,” the India Embassy said.

It clarified that these calls are not being made from the embassy. “Indian nationals in China are, therefore, advised to exercise caution against such calls and refrain from revealing any personal information over telephone or transfer any money to the caller,” it added.
