A viral photo shows her sitting in a car with her lawyer, indicating that she has been released from a women’s shelter home in Lahore.
Sarabjit Kaur, 48, is a resident of Kapurthala in Punjab. She travelled to Pakistan on November 4, 2025, as part of a Sikh pilgrimage group visiting Nankana Sahib to mark the 556th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev. While most pilgrims returned to India on November 13, she did not cross back.

Days later, reports emerged that she had married a Pakistani man after converting to Islam and had chosen to stay in Pakistan. Her visa permitted travel only for religious purposes and for a limited duration.
Pakistani authorities arrested her last month for overstaying her visa. During the review of her legal status and possible deportation to India, she was kept at Dar-ul-Aman, a women’s shelter home in Lahore.
In the latest video, Sarabjit Kaur, who now uses the name Noor Fatima, said she has returned to her husband’s home in Pakistan. She stated that they have been in a relationship for eight years and that she wishes to spend the rest of her life there.
According to media reports, she was released on February 11 after plans to deport her to India were put on hold.
