DSP Atul Soni was booked for firing a gunshot at his wife.



Mohali, January 19

A DSP of the Punjab Police, Atul Soni, was booked for firing a gunshot at his wife at their residence in United Society, Sector 68, here during the wee hours of today.

Soni is currently posted with PAP 13 Battalion, Chandigarh, and was involved in several controversies earlier.

The victim, Sunita Soni, a housewife, in her complaint, stated that following a heated argument, her husband fired a gunshot at her. However, she had a narrow escape as the bullet missed her shoulder.

The complainant alleged that she was a victim of domestic violence for the past few days.

According to the police, the DSP is at large. A case has been registered against him under Section 307 of the IPC and the Arms Act at the Phase VIII police station. — TNS
