Chandigarh: Panjab University Department of Public Administration has announced MPhil admission schedule for session 2015-16. The provisional merit list of the candidates will be displayed on the department notice board on September 16 and objections, if any, received up to 11 AM. Interviews of eligible candidates will be conducted on September 16 from 3 PM to 4.30 PM and the list of selected candidates is likely to be displayed on September 17 by 12 noon.

Applications invited

Panjab University has invited applications for PhD registration in the Department of Zoology. As many as 45 PhD seats are vacant in the Department of Zoology. The qualified candidates of the PhD entrance test, college teachers, UGC-NET qualified and JRF qualifiers candidates can apply up to September 24 at the department. The interviews for PhD course will be conducted on October 1 at 11 AM in the department.

Golden chance to clear reappear exams

Panjab University has given a golden chance to graduate and postgraduate students of the semester system to clear their reappear exams. The PU spokesperson clarified that only online applications would be accepted. For postgraduate and undergraduate, students should login at pgexam.puchd.ac.in & ugexam.puchd.ac.in. The last date for the submission of forms with fee is October 12. After this date, no form will be entertained at any cost.

Orientation programme

Distance learners should be driven by four D’s - Dare, Discipline, Dedication and Dynamism driven by positive outlook. These were the invoking words told by University School of Open Learning (USOL) Chairperson Prof Jaspal Kaur Kaang to 500 new learners of the USOL who had assembled in the USOL auditorium to participate in the first orientation programme of the session on Tuesday. The highlight of the programme was a display of the documentary on USOL onto Excellence.

Engineer’s Day celebrated

The PEC University of Technology celebrated 48th Engineer’s Day to commemorate the birthday of Sir M Visvesvaraya, a legendary engineer and a scholar. The event began with the recitation of the PEC anthem, ‘We are PEC’. Following this, all dignitaries paid a floral tribute to Sir Visvesvaraya. The chief guest for the occasion was Dr SC Handa, Director-General, Quantum Global Campus, Roorkee, and a civil engineering graduate of the PEC (1963 batch). This Engineer’s Day was celebrated under the theme, Engineering Challenges for the Knowledge Era.

Freshers’ party

Government Home Science College welcomed the freshers by throwing a freshers’ party on the theme - Colour Splash - on Tuesday. The freshers included students from undergraduate as well as first-year students from postgraduates. Students participated with zest and zeal. There were enthralling dance performances by BSc final-year students and MSc final-year students. Dr Neha, Associate Professor from Human Development and Family Relations Department, also gave a scintillating performance.

Protest

Protest by students of Dr SSB UICET to implement exit policy in 5.5-year BE (Chemical+MBA) integrated dual degree course entered eighth day on Tuesday. The students on Tuesday blocked the gates of the Vice-Chancellor’s office as the authorities failed to respond them positively. The students alleged that the committee meeting that was supposed to be called today had not yet been called. A leading protester, Harpreet Singh, said the silence of the chairperson on the entire issue proves that they had hardly any reason or argument against our genuine demands. — TNS
