Ludhiana, February 16
A city resident has complained to the Deputy Commissioner (DC) and the MC Commissioner as he is facing a lot of harassment in getting his daughter's birth certificate.
President of the Environmental and Welfare Association Sher Singh said his daughter Tejinder Kaur was born in 1968.
His daughter was now a UK citizen, he said.
"My daughter has lost her birth certificate and she needs birth certificate urgently. I took my application to a Sewa Kendra at Janta Nagar, but staff there did not entertain my application. After much persuasion, staff at the Atam Nagar Sewa Kendra took my application on January 21. The work was to be completed by January 31, but nothing has been done so far. I was told to visit the MC office to enquire about the status of my application. I went to the Municipal Corporation (MC) office and they told me that they have not received the file so far. I have not received the copy of the certificate till date."
"The purpose of these Sewa Kendra is being defeated. I have been facing a lot of harassment in getting the birth certificate of my daughter. I have demanded from the DC and the MC Commissioner to look into the matter and issue the birth certificate of my daughter at the earliest. I have already paid necessary charges for the birth certificate," said Sher Singh, a senior citizen and former president of the Northern Railway Pensioners' Welfare Association, Ludhiana.
