Mahavatar Narsimha enters Oscar race
India’s mythological animated film Mahavatar Narsimha has leapt to the global stage by entering the Oscar race for the Best Animated Feature Film at the 98th Academy Awards. Mahavatar Narsimha will be facing the competition from stellar hits like KPop Demon Hunter, Zootopia 2 and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle.
Dual honours for Jafar Panahi
Iranian director Jafar Panahi claimed dual honours at the 18th Asia Pacific Screen Awards with his film It Was Just an Accident (Un simple accident) taking home best film and best director. Japanese filmmaker Fujimoto Akio’s Lost Land received the Jury Grand Prize for its portrait of displaced Rohingya children navigating uncertain futures.
Kiara, Sid’s baby named Saraayah Malhotra
Kiara and Sidharth Malhotra have announced the name of their baby girl, born on July 15. They have named her Saraayah, which means “God’s Princess.” They shared, “From our prayers, to our arms. Our divine blessing, our princess Saraayah Malhotra.”
Ayushmann welcomes David Beckham
Ayushmann Khurrana, in his role as UNICEF India National Ambassador, welcomed footballer and UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador David Beckham on his arrival in India. The former England football captain visited a school in Visakhapatnam. Ayushmann said, “David Beckham is an icon who leads from the front to bring focus to so many societal issues that affect people worldwide.”
