While the actor maintained silence initially, the issue snowballed on social media, forcing the production to issue clarifications amid calls for a boycott.
Song “15 Saal” With Honey Singh
Diljit’s collaboration with rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh on the song “15 Saal” sparked sharp criticism for allegedly glamorising drug use and alcohol consumption among teenage girls. Child rights activists and women’s groups flagged the lyrics as inappropriate and harmful, accusing the artists of normalising substance abuse involving minors. The controversy reignited debates on regulation of music content in India.
Alcohol-Themed Songs Banned in Telangana
In a rare move, the Telangana government issued a legal notice to Diljit, directing him not to perform songs promoting alcohol or substance use during live shows in the state. Organisers denied wrongdoing, but the probe added to mounting pressure.
