It was on this day in 1975 that Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had a state of emergency declared across the country. Reminding her fans of one of the most controversial periods of independent India’s history, Kangana Ranaut shared a snippet of news clipping from those times.

Kangana, who will be playing the role of Indira Gandhi in her next titled ‘Emergency’, also shared a note with the news clipping. She wrote, “These were the most dramatic events in the recent history of the world. What lead to Emergency which was declared today and what were its consequeces.”

She added, “In the centre of it was the most powerful woman in the world.This deserves a grand scale epic film of its own. So see you in the theatres next year with #Emergency.”

Kangana, who would be playing the lead role in the film, will also be directing and producing it. The upcoming political drama will reportedly feature the Emergency and Operation Blue Star.
