The three-day wedding festivities of Bollywood stars Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal have begun. The celebrations have kicked off with a ‘sangeet’ ceremony tonight and it will be followed by the ‘haldi’ ceremony on Wednesday (December 8). Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal will perform on “Kala Chashma” at sangeet.
‘Sangeet’ and ‘haldi’ functions will be followed by the D-Day when functions like 'Sehrabandi' are scheduled. The couple will take 'phere' on Thursday afternoon and then there will be dinner and poolside party at night. The most-anticipated wedding of the season that will take place at Hotel Six Senses Fort Barwara, Rajasthan and the reception is scheduled for December 10.
As per the sources, the couple will tie the knot in the 'Rajwada' style. This marriage ceremony has been kept strictly private.
Vicky and Katrina will stay at the Barwara Fort till December 12. After marriage, both are likely to visit the temple of Chauth Mata.
Vicky's big family is all set to welcome the bride to the family with a grand celebration
Sources told IANS that the 'Mehendi' ceremony will see both the families in attendance, "Katrina and Vicky will celebrate the Mehendi ceremony with both sides of the family. Vicky has a big, loving and warm Punjabi family on his side and his chacha, chachi, mamaa, mami are all looking forward to officially welcoming Katrina into the family." It might be a very intimate affair with only 120 people attending the celebrations but, the power couple has left no stone unturned to mark their wedding celebrations with utmost grandeur, "The wedding preparations have been in full swing on his side for quite some time now. It's going to be a joyous occasion for both sides with both their friends and family getting together to celebrate the couple's special day!" "Katrina's family has also specially flown down from London - her mom, her sisters and brother and her close group of friends. While it's going to be a private, intimate affair, the celebrations are still going to be grand and they have spared no expense to ensure that they make their special day a memorable one!" the source adds.
Family members and close friends from the film industry arrive
Both Kaif, 38, and Kaushal, left for Jaipur from Mumbai on Monday evening with their families. Soon after their arrival in Jaipur, the two families drove straight to the wedding venue, Six Senses Fort Barwara, Sawai Madhopur, in a convoy of more than 15 cars.
Close friends and colleagues of the couple, including Kaif's frequent collaborator filmmaker Kabir Khan, his actor wife Mini Mathur, director Vijay Krishna Achara, actor Sharvai Wagh, actor couple Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi arrived in Jaipur on Tuesday morning.
Noted playback singers like Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Punjabi singer Gurdas Maan, were also spotted arriving at Jaipur earlier today. There are reports that Mann will be performing at the wedding. When asked what he would like to say to Katrina and Vicky, Maan told reporters outside Jaipur airport, "My love to the couple. God bless them."
Salman likely to skip the wedding
According to sources close to the family, Arpita and Alvira will attend the wedding along with their husbands -- Arpita's husband and 'Antim' star Ayush Sharma and actor-director Atul Agnihotri (Alvira's husband).
Katrina is said to have also wanted Salman's parents to attend the ceremony and shower their blessings to the soon-to-be-wed couple, but they won't be able to attend the event because of health concerns.
Salman's Da-bangg concert tour's dates coincide with Vicky and Katrina's wedding celebrations. The actor is unlikely therefore to attend the function. Salman has flown to Riyadh with his head of security, Shera, who incidentally is monitoring the 'KatVic' wedding security.
Destination Rajasthan
The couple along with family and friends reached the wedding destination on Monday night where they were welcomed with grand fireworks. They were offered garlands, and 'tilak' was applied to their foreheads.
On Monday night, a dozen guests came along with Katrina and Vicky Kaushal, who were given a rousing welcome at the Barwara Fort. Three luxury vehicles were arranged to pick up the family of Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif to the Barwara Fort.
Tight security
While both the gates of the hotel are being guarded by private security personnel, local policemen are also seen deployed in the area.
District collector Rajendra Kishan said that the district administration has given instructions to the hotel authorities to ensure compliance of COVID-19 safety guidelines.
“It is a personal event. I recently held a meeting with our officers and representatives of the hotel and asked them to ensure compliance of COVID-19 related guidelines,” he said. The hotel authorities and security agency have also been instructed to coordinate with the local police so that there is no security related issues, he said.
Six Senses Fort Barwara, the luxurious property, a fort converted into hotel, is guarded by private security personnel and bouncers. Elaborate security arrangements are in place in and around the hotel.
Complaint filed against Vicky Kaushal, Katrina Kaif, DC
Earlier in the day, A Rajasthan-based advocate filed a complaint with the District Legal Services Authority against the closure of the road leading to the Chauth Mata temple from December 6-12 owing to the marriage of Bollywood stars Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif scheduled in Sawai Madhopur district.
Advocate Naitrabind Singh Jadoun filed the complaint against the manager of Six Senses Fort Barwara, the venue for the celebrity wedding, Katrina Kaif, Vicky Kaushal and the District Collector against the closure of the road leading to the temple.
Along with this complaint, in view of the problems faced by the devotees, a request has been made to open the way to the temple. Jadaun said in his complaint that he has no objection to the event.
What’s bride-to-be Katrina Kaif wearing to wedding?
Reports suggest that Veena Kaushal, Vicky’s mom wants the bride-to-be to don the perfect Punjabi dulhan. Katrina has opted for a Sabyasachi lehenga for the big-fat Punjabi wedding, as per reports.

Royal look to wedding
The event company working for this wedding has procured crystal balls and chandeliers from abroad to give a royal look to the wedding. Six Senses Hotel has also parked indicator vehicles on the road at frequent intervals for the guests to reach the hotel easily.
Glass 'mandap'
A glass 'mandap' has been prepared and decorated in Rajwada style for the couple to take 'pheres' (rounds around the fire) as per Hindu rituals. Glass carvings on the mandap is such that it creates an optical illusion.
Secret codes to each guest
This wedding ceremony will be held amidst tight security arrangements. Secret codes have been given to each of the guests, so that it is impossible to know which guest is staying in which room. The ceremonies will be held from December 7 to December 9, with bouncers and police personnel looking after the security arrangements. As many as 100 bouncers have arrived from Jaipur to look after security arrangements at the wedding.
Mobile phones banned
Mobile phones have been banned inside the venue. International photographers have been hired to shoot the entire wedding. Vicky Kaushal and Katrina Kaif's outfits have been designed in Mumbai which they will wear during different wedding ceremonies.
