Preity Zinta says no politics for her, but this is what she said about Kangana Ranaut's political journey
A woman supporting another woman is a great quality, especially when the purpose is to encourage colleagues.
In an AskMe session on X, Preity Zinta shared her thoughts on social media negativity, toxicity and how every comment is politically twisted and motivated.
What was striking in her interaction with her fans was her appreciation and support for Kangana Ranaut, who has run into controversies for her open and blunt views.
Someone like Zinta, already a successful actress and a fashion icon, was modest enough to speak so highly about a fellow actress.
Preity, like Kangana Ranaut, is from Himachal Pradesh. She hails from a village in Rohru in Shimla district.
Kangana is a fantastic actress & a fashion icon. I haven’t seen her work as a director, but I believe she is a very good director. I wish her all the best in her new role as a politician, and I sincerely hope she does her best for the people of Himachal Pradesh ❤️ https://t.co/1W1U9DSN8d

A fan asked the actor about her intention to join politics. “You are truly a Soldier dar Preity!! Hats off to you!! Just curious, any plans to join politics?”
No ! No politics for me. Over the years, various political parties have offered me tickets & Rajya Sabha seats but I have politely declined as it’s not what I want. Calling me a soldier is not completely wrong because I am a soldier’s daughter & a soldiers sister 😀 We fauji… https://t.co/9FZLpLKNP1

We are not North Indian or South Indian or Himachalis or Bengalis etc. We are just Indians and yes, patriotism and national pride are in our blood. If you know, you know (star-struck emoji) Ting!” replied Zinta.

Another asked, “Did things you went through (got attacked by a political party) had done any change in your political opinion?” The Kal Ho Na Ho actor mentioned how social media had become more toxic in India. “I’m surprised at how toxic social media in India has become and how every comment and observation is weighed on a political scale. I’m not a politician nor am I interested in politics, but as a normal person, I find this deeply disturbing. Having said that, I’m also not a delicate darling or a pushover that anyone can try and bully me, so if anyone tries, they will be in for a rude shock,” she wrote. This response came after a post by the Kerala Congress handle in which the party alleged that Zinta had given “her social media accounts to BJP and got Rs 18 crore loan written off” from the New India Co-operative Bank.
Later, Mumbai Police officials investigating the New India Co-op Bank’s Rs 122 crore embezzlement case stated that actor Preity Zinta, any loan taken by her or whether it was written off was not part of their investigation.
