The National Athletics Championship being organised by Special Olympics Bharat at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, has drawn significant attention towards sports persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event has also highlighted the need for specialised sports facilities not only for athletes with intellectual disabilities but also for sportspersons with physical disabilities so that they can train without barriers and perform better at the national and international levels. Keeping this need in view, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, while inaugurating the championship on Tuesday, made a special announcement for sportspersons with physical and intellectual disabilities, bringing cheer to their faces across the state.
