New Delhi, January 25

In his most scathing attack against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Home Minister Amit Shah today said the AAP leader won the 2015 Assembly polls by “misleading people”, but this time he would not succeed in his attempts.

Speaking at the party’s “Jeet Ki Goonj” event here ahead of the Assembly elections, he exhorted the BJP’s “cyber yodhas” to “expose” Kejriwal’s “lies”.

“He (Kejriwal) may have won the 2015 elections by misleading the public, but what happened after that? What happened in Varanasi, Haryana, Punjab, Gujarat, Maharashtra, MCD elections in Delhi, on seven Lok Sabha seats here? The party lost it all.

“He will fail in Delhi too this time….Jeet Arjun ki hi hogi”…People of Delhi have made their decision for the 2020 Assembly elections. The trend seen at 12,068 of Delhi’s 13,750 booths in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections will continue,” he said.

Shah said many times in the past, the BJP had defeated the perception that it would not win the elections. This time also, he was sure that people would “erase the mistake” they had committed five years ago on February 8. According to Shah, support for the BJP in Delhi translated into support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s promise of securing India’s borders and taking it to new heights “When you support the BJP, you are supporting the mission to make India a global figurehead,” Shah said, listing the achievements of the BJP-led Centre, including abrogation of the special status to Jammu and Kashmir and the Ram Temple.

“Tomorrow on January 26, the Tricolour will touch the skies in Kashmir and within four months, the construction of a grand Ram Temple will begin in Ayodhya,” he said. He also referred to the famous BJP slogans of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections “56 inch ki chhati” and “acche din” to stress his point. Neither Congress nor AAP can keep Delhi safe, only Narendra Modi can, he said.

4-time BJP MLA joins AAP

The ruling AAP got a major boost as four-time BJP legislator Harsharan Singh Balli on Saturday joined the party. Balli has been an MLA from the Hari Nagar Assembly constituency, and was a minister in the Madan Lal Khurana government. “Kejriwal is serving Delhi as a mother. I have joined the AAP as I am influenced by the way he has brought revolution in the field of education, health, etc. in Delhi,” he said.
