2 held for killing tavern manager in Faridabad

The Faridabad police today arrested two persons in connection with the murder of an ahata (tavern) manager.

He was beaten to death by members of a wedding procession after he refused to serve them alcohol in Faridabad on Wednesday.

According to the police, the accused have been identified as Abhishek (23) and Rohit (23), residents of Indira Colony, Jharsa, Gurugram. They have been sent to police remand.

During interrogation, Abhishek revealed that he was attending a wedding ceremony of his niece at the community centre in Sector 3 on April 14. He and his nephew went to a liquor shop next to the community centre to buy alcohol around midnight, but it was closed. They knocked on the door of the courtyard adjacent to the shop. When ahata manager Aadesh opened the door, they asked for alcohol. Aadesh refused to give them alcohol, saying the shop was closed.

“After a dispute over the refusal, Abhishek and his nephew left, and later returned with friends from the community centre.
